the underestimated danger for teeth and body

What is the actual meaning of:

Gingivitis

  • Gingiva means gums.
  • The suffix "-itis" always stands for inflammation.

  • The suffix "-itis" again stands for "inflammation".
  • Parodontitis is therefore a deep-seated inflammation around the tooth which also breaks down the supporting bone and endangers the stability of the tooth.

  • 95% of all adults between the ages of 30 and 65 are affected
  • 85% are milder cases (4-5mm-deep gingiva-pockets in the gum)
  • 15% are serious cases (over 5mm-deep gingiva-pockets)
  • Even in milder cases, some areas are seriously affected
